EM MODERN ART
Eliana and Madeline are a mother and daughter painting team in NYC. EM Modern Art was conceived in 2016 during a trip to the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Modern Wing where Eliana and Madeline got so inspired by a piece of art that they made their first collaborative painting. From that point on, every painting, whether painted individually or together, was a composition of shared ideas, inspiration, critiques, and encouragement for one another. Their joint paintings are not only a total blend of their styles and techniques but also of their souls and spirits.
ELIANA
Eliana has been painting and drawing ever since she was a little girl. She loved painting with her mother, Madeline and accompanying her mother to museums and galleries. As a teen, Eliana explored surrealism. She loved to illustrate the poems she wrote. Now, Eliana loves to explore new media and techniques. She experiments with texture and color to produce movement and drama to her abstracts and portraits.
Madeline
Madeline studied painting and art history in a small state college in the beautiful upstate NY area. She loved painting the snowy hills and fields in the lakes region of central NY. Everyday, from the art studio windows, she painted the panoramic sky and nearby mountains. Even though the scenery from that window didn’t change, each day’s painting looked completely different because of the varying light and climatic conditions. After college, she got a Master of Arts degree in Art Education. When she finished her education, Madeline took a job in the film industry where she worked for more than 30 years. During that time, Madeline painted and taught art in her free time. Now, she’s excited to return to her first love: painting. She has started her career over again and enjoys the feeling of waking each morning to create new paintings.
